Flavored Tobacco Information

FLAVOR BAN BRIEFING DOCUMENT

The FDA is considering a ban on menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars. The briefing document below, written by our NCPC researchers, outlines four essential points from research and science that community organizations should know as they communicate with citizens and other organizations.

This is a freely available resource, and has been written specifically to help ensure communities know the facts about this long-awaited decision. This flavor ban would ultimately help move us toward greater health equity.

COUNTY LEVEL TOBACCO INFORMATION

Looking specifically at County level data within the San Joaquin Valley, the NCPC Citizen Scientists and researchers, working closely with our community partners at the California Health Collaborative (CHC), have developed a number of useful flavored tobacco info-graphics. These info-graphics are currently available for Merced, Stanislaus and San Joaquin County using available data, with more being developed for other San Joaquin Counties. All are freely available and can be downloaded for use within communities, or to hand out at meetings.

Two options for each county are available, depending on intended audience:

  • The white and red version is to help parents / caregivers.
  • The black and yellow version is intended for use with community organizations, those interested in tobacco control and local health departments.

English and Spanish versions of each are available. Please click the images to download the PDFs as needed:
